Coaching is presented as a special kind of dialogue where the dialogue partners seek to alter their perspectives in order to generate development and new insights. I present the key underlying intentions of the three generations of coaching: from a problem focus over a solution focus to a reflection focus. Following that, I present my basic theories and their possible inclusion in third-generation coaching. I move from a systemic over a social constructionist to a narrative co-creative theoretical universe and present additional theories that I find it useful to integrate: elements of positive psychology and of experiential and emotionfocused approaches.
